Mood light
Lumière brightness can be changed from 10% to 100% in three different temperatures suitable for studying, reading and relaxation.
Lighting has a dramatic affect on the mood and atmosphere of an interior space. Good lighting sets the tone and creates the atmosphere in a room and effects how we feel. The two biggest contributors to functionality from a lighting perspective are quantity and quality.
Too little and it becomes difficult to perform necessary tasks. Too much and it causes glare. Both scenarios can cause eye discomfort which lead to health issues, both physical and emotional. The Centre for Occupational Health and Safety describes good lighting as “providing enough illumination so that people can see printed, handwritten or displayed documents clearly but are not blinded by excessively high light levels, which causes glare”.

Lumière creates a wonderfully unique light that prevents glare and creates an even light pattern. Using light guide technology, it eliminates shadows or dark zones, which ordinary LED table stands create.

The beauty and quality of Lumière does not only come from the inside. We equally spent thought and care on the outside. We wanted to design a lamp with a flush design, without external buttons. The touch and multi-level dimming sensors work easily and literally to give Lumiére the finishing touch and because it is smart, it remembers your selected light mode, brightness and settings!

Lumiére also has adjustable settings for brightness, but whether it’s turned on or off, Lumière makes a great visual impact perfect for your home, office, study or even your garden!
Different scenarios require different types of lighting. With Lumiére, you have complete flexibility to adjust your lighting to any variation of both Cool White, Neutral White and Warm White lights, at any brightness, any time and shape Lumière to suite your specific use and function for that added personal control.
A simple, modern, no-frills design, Lumière is available in 3 colours with multi-touch controls that let you turn on/off/dim by touching after you’ve finished your New York Times bestseller.
Lumiére is a task and accent lamp that can give you as much light as a 60-Watt incandescent light bulb. That lets you illuminate your desk or nightstand for about 1/7th the energy you’re probably using now. And the LEDs last more than 50,000 hours; it’s likely you won’t ever need to change them.
Of the 3 operating modes, Study Mode is the brightest, using mostly white LEDs for a colour temperature of between 5,000K and 6,000K. Reading Mode 4,000K to 5,000K mixes in more of the yellow spectrum, Relaxation, Computer, Tablet, Smartphone, Bedtime; Nightlight Mode brings the colour temperature down to 3000K to 4000K. All Modes have a 6-step dimmer to suit every possible task.
The Colour Rendering Index of the LEDs is rated at 90+. With up to 40 hours of lighting time you can take the lamp to your garden, to the park or even to the beach.
The Bright Road Ahead
We’ve put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into Lumière… well figuratively, and we are so close to turning our dream into a bright reality. It takes a lot to manufacture a quality product, and while we are close, we need your help to get us over the last hump.
The tooling is already done and this leaves the cost of components, and manufacturing costs ahead, but also we need your help to build a community around Lumiére and spread the word before and after you experience Lumiére.
We manufactured several thousand units last year as part of the Hong Kong Show then assigned a distributor in the UK, China and Germany markets. Since then, we have refined and improved Lumière on 8 critical features and produced some samples. The improvements include refinement to the firmware to allow for a quick charge, PCB, 28 of the best LEDs, Battery cycle life, enhanced base, a New Space Grey colour for the aluminium, a new black base, a better battery with 800 cycle and a slide/or touch dimmer. The Aluminium colours of the new production match the iPhone. What we have today is an amazing task lamp that looks and performs flawlessly, that you can truely take anywhere!
We are so far ahead in this process and with your help and support we will Ship Lumière to all our backers in March 2016.
Risks and challenges
We are ex Apple and Microsoft Engineers and we’ve worked hard over the last year to get Lumière to this point and we successfully completed critical milestones and confidently consider the risks very minimal.
