For on-the-go lawyers who want to run their practices more efficiently, Lawyer Talk™ is the answer.

Lawyer Talk is a virtual office system (software as a service or SaaS) with a suite of tools tailored for those in the legal industry profession. It is also a community, giving lawyers the ability to converse, video chat, network and foster relationships with others working in the field, including legal professionals seeking employment.

Whether partners in a small firm or in-house counsel for a large corporation, many lawyers are faced with a heavy workload and very little by way of support. Lawyers struggle with logistics and handling paperwork, and need help with this day-to-day task so they can focus on what matters most: the practice of law.

Lawyers and other industry professionals are frustrated by how unnecessarily complicated it can be to share case files, collaborate on projects, or identify new business partnership opportunities or new projects. Both customer segments currently use services like LinkedIn, Dropbox, and Upwork in an attempt to improve processes, but still desperately need a new service—one that can consolidate all of their logistical and communication needs surrounding all of their legal cases in one place.

David Shenkman has spent the majority of his legal career as a sole practitioner, and is all too aware of the difficulties of finding co-counsel for an out-of-town case, a process server, a court reporter, or an expert witness in a remote location. He saw a need for lawyers to have improved channels of communication with their cases, secretaries and paralegals. Therefore, three years ago he became founder and CEO of Lawyer Talk: a unique solution that unifies all of the industry’s requirements and puts them in one place.

In 2012, Shenkman established Lawyer Talk, a term recognized by the legal profession to describe the eloquence and craft of lawyers addressing a jury in the courtroom.  He wanted Lawyer Talk to convey the communication and empowerment associated with the term.

The system allows professionals to retain all relevant information from case notes to pleadings, motions, discovery materials, court timetables and resumes in one easy-to-locate place. Everything is stored in the cloud and can be accessed from anywhere, so Lawyer Talk is a great solution for anyone who travels often or works remotely as well.

Our virtual office also provides users with a number of efficient tool options, all of which are designed to provide a paperless alternative to simplify conventional time-consuming, but necessary, office administration tasks, increase productivity, and reduce cost.

For smaller firms and individual attorneys, Lawyer Talk provides an opportunity to level the playing field, with enterprise-level solutions.

Established as a trademarked company in 2012, Lawyer Talk’s labors have only come to fruition as a finished product in 2015. We anticipate that a broad commercial launch of the virtual office will occur in the first quarter of 2016.

Thus far, 49 beta testers are using the prototype of Lawyer Talk, while 5,000 simulated users completed a stress test to ensure the service can run at full capability and demand for the figures we predict for Year 1. The finished product is ready and waiting to be rolled out to consumers across the country.

Lawyer Talk benefits from intellectual property protection, mainly through copyright and registered trademarks. While still at the pre-revenue stage, we are in preliminary discussions with a number of prestigious law schools, and are open to any potential partnership opportunities.

We believe that the model that Lawyer Talk is based on is transferable, and intend to apply it to other industries in the future.
