Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in the Bronx, I am a proud son of the Bronx and a product of the rich cultural topography and the special resilient spirit known to the world over as being endemic in the Bronx. My passion for my community and borough at large has prompted me to dream big and pioneer a business for the benefit of my community. As with many humble beginnings, running my first business as a tea master and tea blender and working as a tea consultant for several companies and eateries in the United States acquiring much and experience and knowledge about the operations of small businesses. Upon the completion of my graduate studies, focusing in Business Management and Entrepreneurial studies, I began to search for more rich and fulfilling experiences and a purposeful life. This journey led me the streets of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil. In my travels I was exposed to many different ways of life and cultures that have helped shape my views on the world. Most importantly, it showed me the many ways that we are different yet very much alike since at the end we all want the same things; all the differences rest on mere misunderstandings.

Brazilians juiced before juicing was a thing, and after living abroad in Brazil and experiencing firsthand the juice and health culture in cities all over the country, I was inspired to introduce BORN to the Bronx. As a Bronx resident, I aspire to offer my community health-conscious alternative options and a new experience. BORN will be revolutionary because it utilizes only the highest quality products sourced from local rooftop hydroponic gardens the most reputable suppliers to ensure quality and consistency. This ensures BORN of the finest ingredients available.

BORN is a revolutionary cold-pressed juice bar concept that is being planned for the “Mott Haven” area in the South Bronx of New York City. BORN will sell and market a variety of flavors and mixtures of cold-pressed juice styles, along with smoothies, fresh teas, organic coffee and fresh food options. It is an LLC registered in the State of New York. BORN will dually serve as a pioneer in the health and local-produce-movement in the Bronx. It will be developed into a recognizable brand for the Bronx, expanding the concept while replicating the success of the first location to similar venues throughout the borough by educating the population that health can be yummy. In addition, it will also consist of a hydroponic rooftop fruit and vegetable garden.

In 2016, BORN will be opening its doors as the very first cold-pressed juice bar in the heart of the South Bronx. Who better than a Bronxite for Bronxites?! I strongly believe that the sons and daughters of the Bronx are the ones that may be able to help raise the borough’s stature and love the Bronx back to wholeness, BORN being the epitome of community sustainability.

The loan will be used to assist in the launching of BORN as it will cover the cost of equipment, such as the centrifugal juice press machine. Allowing me to purchase the equipment and reduce the overall cost of the pressed juices to the general public
