SYNOPSIS

Emilio, 35, is a poor man always on the prowl for food. One morning the Gentleman, 60, a fat wealthy man, and Gobbari, 45, his right-hand man, lure Emilio into a luxurious restaurant. During the meal, Emilio is offered a huge sum of money to sell his appetite to the Gentleman. Everything the Gentleman eats and drinks will be digested by Emilio. Emilio accepts the proposition and begins to enjoy the pleasures that poverty once deprived him of. After several embarrassing situations caused by the massive amounts of food ingested by the Gentleman, Emilio understands that the ever-growing appetite of his employer won’t allow him to live a normal life. Emilio has become a slave to the contract he so eagerly signed. Determined to break this bond between him and the Gentleman, Emilio is ready to give up everything in order to get his life back.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Hello. This is Luigi Rossi, producer of “L’Appetito Venduto – Sale of An Appetite” and alongside with Enrico Granato, director of the short movie, we have been working on this project for almost one year now.

“L’ Appetito Venduto” is a narrative short film based on a short story written by Paul LaFargue. It’s a tale that stands as a metaphor to the capitalistic and exploitative society we live in today.

This November 2015 we had 5 very intense days of production in Rome, where we shot some amazing footage. Thanks to incredibly talented actors (Marco Cocci, Giuseppe Cantore and Piergiorgio Bellocchio) and a very professional crew mostly composed by graduates of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia of Rome and other crew members that have been part of the industry for more than 20 years we were able to capture everything we needed in order to tell our story.

Here are some stills from the days on set:

Now that we have finished shooting we have started the post-production phase of the project, and here is where WE NEED YOUR HELP.

In case you don’t know, post-production is one of the most important phases in the creation of a piece, especially at this time in which you can do miracles with digital technology.

We have been actively seeking for deals with post-production houses and professionals that will be willing to work for us in order to further enhance this project and create a piece that is really worth watching.

But this obviously comes at a cost. That’s why we are here to ask for your help.

WHAT WE NEED

This is the list of our expenses for post-production:

– SOUND DESIGNING

– SOUND MIXING

– COLOR CORRECTING

– COMPOSING ORIGINAL SCORE

– FILM FESTIVAL SUBMISSIONS

We’ll need to hire professionals and use state-of-art facilities to assure the best quality for both our picture (we shot in 5K [sexy!!!]) and audio. And then we’ll want to share this project with the world, and that as well comes at a cost. Festival submission fees have been getting higher every year, but that’s for us the best way to build an audience and hopefully be able to distribute this film.

Obviously, if you contribute in the crowd-funding for this project you will have the possibility to see this film.

WE SHOT IT SO THAT WE COULD SHARE IT, AND WE NEED YOU TO HELP US ON THIS!

If you cannot make a contribution, there are other ways in which you can help us. You can tell your friends/family/network about our project and share it on your social media outlets. We need to reach as many people as possible, and (again) WE NEED YOUR HELP.

We thank you all in advance for taking the time to stumble on our project and help us out.

Summary:
This surreal drama explores the notion of ‘appetite’ and is a metaphor for a world in which greed has gone awry and our economy can exploit us to the fullest. We have finished shooting and are currently starting post-production. We hope you’ll be able to help us out and support our project!
