ShiftShare – The only all inclusive app for shift workers, their families and their friends

I am international Special Educational Needs teacher with a real passion for making a difference. I am looking to address the work/life balance of shift workers throughout the UK through innovative technology. Even the Health and Safety Executive has recognized the impact that working shifts can have on your health, yet little has been done to help those who need it the most. In fact the search for a ‘shift planning solution’ has continued to rise according to Google Adwords Keyword Planner.

The project came about as my wife and brother work shifts and it became evident that this was having a real impact to not only them, but to the people around them. It stems from a real desire to help these selfless people that work to improve/save the lives of the general population, and at the same time ensure that they maintained strong relationships with their friends and families. Essentially we are looking to minimize the marketing costs and take the responsibility in-house. The £35,000 raised will be used solely to develop an innovative app that will change the lives of millions of people throughout the UK.

For every £1000 contribution we will send out our unique ShiftShare branding pack. Including a branded diary, pen and promotional t-shirt. If we do not reach our entire goal we will continue to use the funds for the development of the app. With the initial investment we predict that we will be able to raise further funds once the project is at an advanced stage.

The Impact

ShiftShare will make a real difference to the lives of those people who make Britain Great. The NHS, Fire Service or Police, Delivery drivers, rail workers, the postal service, these are the people we are working for. Now is our time to say thank you.

Although we all have stories of heroics from people in each of these professions, little has been done to consider the person behind the uniform. This is where ShiftShare comes in.

On the face of it ShiftShare will improve the work/life balance for people in these professions, however it is much for than that…

ShiftShare will save lives. It will reduce the health effects associated with stress among shift workers and ensure that the rates of depression and other mental health issues are decreased. This is because ShiftShare will provide a greater network of support for shift workers and make sure that they are able to take part in stress relieving activities outside of work.

Other factors that cause stress, such as strained relationships, will also be reduce. As a result we predict the rates of divorce and sickness among shift workers to decline.

All these factors will also result in greater enjoyment/productivity and less absences from the workplace.
