About this project

Rachel Rizzuto and touche pas present a one-night-only premiere performance of super sad love songs (or, love makes us all losers), a work which curses, mystifies, bemoans and occasionally celebrates that most universal of emotions: Love.

At 8 pm on Saturday, February 13th, at the Alchemical Theatre Laboratory (104 West 14th Street / 14th Street and 6th Avenue, Manhattan), six performers offer an evening of dance, music and song, by turns self-indulgent, dramatic, droll, sweeping and (in Rachel’s case, at least) questionably narcissistic.

Featuring these truly multi-talented performers:

Dia Dearstyne

Nora Fox

Isaac Owens

Kristen Rizzuto

Rachel Rizzuto

Jesse Scheinin

Makeup, hair and costumes by Marc Witmer. Lighting design by Lisa Hufnagel. This excellent video was filmed and edited by Jared Lee Outten.

As so many of you know, producing work is an expensive endeavor, particularly in NYC. We need your help raising $2800 for:

– performance stipends

– rehearsal space

– costume materials and design

– lighting design

– videography

– photography

Please help us give this production the support it needs! If you’re unable to donate monetarily, please consider sharing this link instead.

And, most importantly, we hope to see you at the show on February 13th. #lovesucks

touche pas is a dance company committed to utilizing large casts and performing only to live music. Humor is often present. The company was formed in 2015 by artistic director Rachel Rizzuto.

Risks and challenges

A major challenge of this production is that it asks its six performers—four of whom are primarily dancers, two of whom are musicians and singers, first and foremost—to act as true triple threats. That is, everyone in this piece dances, sings AND plays an instrument.

Luckily, these cast members are talented professionals who understand the vulnerability required to perform in front of an audience—and the successful (or not) funding of this Kickstarter will have no effect on their performance.
