Avdome Aviation has created a solution: the world’s first lightweight, collapsible air cargo container that can be taken down or put back together in just 60 seconds.

Here’s how we got to where we are today: air transportation serves two main purposes: moving people and moving cargo. As more cargo begun to be shipped, we created giant boxes to make transportation of goods easier. As the industry evolved, these containers did not.

They remained very basic and very heavy, thus taking up a lot of space and fuel. This problem is compounded when you factor in the people component. As cities grew and certain airports became more popular than others, the distribution of containers at different airports across the globe became extremely uneven. No one is shipping the same amount of goods from Siberia to New Guinea as from JFK to London, in other words.

Inevitably, carriers are left with empty cargo containers serving no purpose other than collecting dust and wasting fuel.

And since air travel isn’t going away anytime soon, the need to innovate a stale industry has never been greater. People have tried, yes, and a collapsible container does exist, yes, but it is still very heavy, expensive, and takes about 20 minutes to collapse.

We’re not talking about marginal innovation at Avdome Aviation. We’re talking about revolutionary innovation. We’re talking about a container that can be disassembled and reassembled in a minute.

Avdome’s ULDs are collapsible and reinforced containers. Made from durable yet lightweight aluminum, with honeycomb structured fiberglass reinforced plastic, our containers offer more strength than the standard container, but at a fraction of the weight.

Using simple physics principles of weight distribution, we can offer a considerable amount of added strength with little to no maintenance, all while coming in 25-50% lighter than traditional air cargo containers.

The math is pretty simple.

Light containers = less fuel used = higher profits

Collapsible containers = more room for cargo = higher revenues

Simple structure and minimal moving parts = little to no maintenance = higher profits

Easily collapsible without the need of specialized equipment = major time and cost savings

Our ULDs meet all measures required by the FAA and come equipped with RFID controllers, an electronic data box that records destinations, item descriptions, weight and volume of packages, baggage tag data, contents of packages, etc. This also significantly saves time required to load an aircraft and ensures that space is fully utilized.

Avdome’s revolutionary air shipping container is fully engineered and designed, we have a facility and manufacturing in place, and we are waiting on final FAA approval on the Ultimate Load Test which should happen by May 2016.

Founded in 2012, we completed our first prototype in 2013, and have since developed and tested many more versions before arriving on the final product we have today.

With all the hard stuff behind us, we’re ready to take Avdome Aviation to the next level.

We have major buyers already lined up. These buyers, just like all others in the industry, buy huge amounts of shipping containers at a time. Thus, even one sale would result in massive revenues, but we already have three lined up: Jettainer, Chep Aerospace, and Japan Airlines.

We have several more companies interested who are just waiting on final FAA approval before proceeding.

We hold patents and IP for our unique collapsible air cargo container design, ensuring we will remain an industry leader for the foreseeable future.

Our plan for 2016 and beyond: FAA certification should be complete by March or April, at which point we will move into our pilot program with 100 units, and then full scale distribution. We also plan on incorporating pharmaceutical shipping into our offerings in the near future.

Our team has been in the aviation industry for decades and has developed and manufactured several full scale containers in the past.

James has a BS in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona, FL. He has over 35 years in the airline/avionics industry with Boeing, Cathay Pacific, and other firms. He is very familiar with the challenges of air freight hauling, and uses his experience to guide all strategic movement of the company.

Christopher is responsible for leading and supervising a team of engineers as they develop, test, modify, and create solutions to technical problems.

Bernie is responsible for managing and directing all production activities. He coordinates the production of goods, ensures machines are repaired and running smoothly, and manages workers on the production line.
